The short answer
We do not sell your personal information, and we never have. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not run ads. We have no data-broker relationships. There is no revenue stream on this site that depends on your data, and if we ever wanted to create one we would have to ask your permission first.
California law requires us to give you a way to opt out anyway. This page is that mechanism, and it also handles every other privacy request we can act on — access, correction, and deletion.
Your rights
Under the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, California residents have the rights below. We extend all of them to every user, regardless of where you live. Similar rights exist under the laws of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas, Oregon, Montana, and other states.
| Right | What it means here |
|---|---|
| Know | Get a list of the categories and the specific pieces of personal information we hold about you, where we got them, why we have them, and who has received them. |
| Delete | Have your personal information permanently erased. Completed within 30 days. |
| Correct | Fix anything inaccurate. Most fields you can edit yourself in Settings. |
| Opt out of sale or sharing | Nothing to opt out of — we don't sell or share — but you may submit a request and we will record it. |
| Limit use of sensitive personal information | We already use sensitive information only to provide the service you asked for. You may confirm this restriction, or delete the information entirely. |
| Portability | Download everything we hold about you in a machine-readable format. |
| Non-discrimination | We will never deny service, charge more, or give you a worse experience for exercising any of these rights. We do not offer financial incentives in exchange for your data. |
Submit a request
If you have an account, the fastest route is Settings → Privacy, where access, export, correction, and deletion are all self-service and take effect immediately. Otherwise, use this form.
You can also email info@uscasestatus.com.
A note on sensitive information
Since January 1, 2024, California law treats information revealing citizenship or immigration status as sensitive personal information. That covers the country of birth and petition category you may have given us. We use it only to compute statistics for cases comparable to yours and to send alerts you asked for — never to profile you, never for marketing, and never for any purpose you would not reasonably expect. You can remove these fields at any time from Settings without deleting your whole account.
Global Privacy Control
We honor the GPC browser signal as a valid opt-out request under California law. If your browser sends it, we register the opt-out automatically — you don't need to fill in this form. You can check whether your browser sends GPC at globalprivacycontrol.org.
Authorized agents
You may designate someone to submit a request for you — a family member, an attorney, or an accredited representative. The agent must provide written permission signed by you, and we may contact you directly to confirm. We do not charge for this.
How we verify you
We verify by sending a confirmation link to the email address on the account. That is the whole process. We will never ask you to upload a passport, green card, driver's licence, or any other identity document to exercise a privacy right — asking people in the immigration system to hand over documents in order to protect their privacy would be absurd, and we won't do it.
If you have no account and no email on file, there may be nothing associated with you to act on, since anonymous lookups are not stored against a person. We will tell you if that's the case.
How long it takes
| Step | Timing |
|---|---|
| Acknowledgment of your request | Within 10 business days |
| Substantive response | Within 45 calendar days |
| Extension, if needed — with notice and reason | One additional 45 days |
| Deletion completed in production systems | Within 30 days of verification |
| Deletion completed in backups | Within 35 days |
| Self-service deletion from Settings | Immediate deactivation; same erasure schedule |
If we say no
We will explain why in writing, in plain language, and tell you what part of the request we could not fulfill. You may appeal by replying to that email or writing to info@uscasestatus.com with "Appeal" in the subject. We respond to appeals within 45 days. If you remain unsatisfied, you may complain to the California Privacy Protection Agency, your state attorney general, or your local supervisory authority.
